How long did it take for you to be able to do splits?

Recommend any stretches? For anything could be unrelated to splits, but mostly interested in splits side and middle. How long did it take for you to be able to do splits?
It really depends on your body. If you stretch every day you will be able to do it eventually.

Some good stretches are to sit on the ground with your legs out in front of you and reach for your toes. Also sit with your legs out to the side (stradle position) and try and put your torso to the ground.

You can also take a stretching and conditioning class at some dance studios.

Good Luck!!How long did it take for you to be able to do splits?
I just split the first time i tried. (did'n know it was supposed to be painful) You can try getting into the best split position you can get (for left and right), it should hurt a fair bit. Hold it and count to 30 secs. Slowly increase your time limit and try going lower. Don't bounce up and down, cause it does'nt help. FOr your side split you can bring one of your legs in, while in split position, and lift your body over that leg (using your arms). Than stretch out that leg. It's gonna hurt, but just ENDURE! haha.
it took me a couple of months. I would stretch almost everyday though. A really good stretch is lying on your back, bend one leg (while keeping the other one straight) and then grab on to your ankle and pull it up. Hold it for a while and then change legs. I hope this makes sense =/
Keep in mind that even with all the stretching in the world, there is a large amount of people who cannot do the splits no matter what.
My dance teacher held a competition to see who would get their splits the fastest and i won getting mine in two months. I just stretched all the time and tried to go further and further into the splits each time.
