Is it possible that if the universe expands too fast, it could cause the milkway galaxy to split?

Making all the planets here move to diferent places

I seen this on Nat Geo and I want to know if this is true. If it is could you tell me a bit more about it please? Is it possible that if the universe expands too fast, it could cause the milkway galaxy to split?
They may have been talking about the Big Rip.

As the universe continues to expand, even gravity will not be able to withstand the accelerated expansion. Objects in orbit will lose their orbits, and everything, eventually even the atoms, will not be able to stay together, for Dark Energy is too strong.

This is in the far distant future. Nothing to lose sleep over.Is it possible that if the universe expands too fast, it could cause the milkway galaxy to split?
I was taught in my Astronomy I took last year that, yes, the universe is expanding. However, that does not mean that galaxies are expanding as well. It is the space between galaxies and large universal bodies of that sort that is expanding. Galaxies are held together by their internal gravity and as such do not expand and will not split unless it should collide with another galaxy or grand celestial body of that sort.
