How do you treat skin splits?

I have EXTREMELY dry skin on my hands..to the point of painful splits..vaseline seems to do well, but is not practical with all the paperwork and typing I have to do..even with bandaids..suggestions please? How do you treat skin splits?
ok, this may sound odd but give it a try.

if you have a painful skin split, then try putting a dab of super glue on it. i know that they stuff is toxic is swallowed and all that but when my brother got a bad cut on his hand, the doctor didn't put stitches in, he used crazy glue. i also work with lots of people who use it with no ill effects. i personally have not tried it, because my hands aren't that bad. once it dries, use lotions regularly to stop more splits from forming.

the skin creams and lotiomng mentioned above are also really good. so is vanicream, it is also very gentle. in my line of work i deal with lots of those types of products and people tell me why they use a particular brand all the time, also, since your hands are so dry try using a lotion made for diabetics. they are extra gentle so the product won't burn or sting when it goes on. those types of lotions are kept with the diabetic supplies at walgreens and i assume otherstores. maybe even try the kind for feet is that all you can find. diabetics can only put very few things on their feet. nothing with fragrance of anything like that (i know, i'm a type 1 diabetic)

give it a try, goodluck.

haleyHow do you treat skin splits?
well if your hands are dry you should use lotion because it will help you and your hands with be nice and soft
Gold bond medicated lotion works really well on skin like yours.

Also, slather on a thick, fragrence free hand cream (not lotion), or vaseline and then a pair of white cotton gloves and sleep in them.

Good luck really dry skin sucks
superglue works really well in a bind, or you can try foot/heel cracks remedy available over the counter available at any discount store or pharmacy. I had stuggled with these problems for years and all of a sudden no more problem. the heel ointment is made with wax and honey, has a pleasnt smell and works miracles overnight, although a bit greasy
Try Zinn's Crack Creme. It should be available at most pharmacies, and comes in a spray form and a lotion form. The main ingredient is glycerine, which softens skin and lets it heal. Apply it frequently and your skin will be healthy in a few days!
