Can you open split zip archives on an IMAC without downloading additional software?

I want to send a large file (%26gt;170 MB) to my Dad's IMAC and i don't want to cause too much hassle for him.

I have found segmented files to be erratic enough that third party software is nearly a must have. The Unarchiver and StuffIt Expander will join segmented zip files that the Mac's built in zip program has problems with.
